Do Not Drink/Do Not Boil Order Still in Effect

As we have shared, the State of California has instructed Forest Springs IMA to issue a Do Not Drink/Do Not Boil order until further notice. It is still in effect.

We are working directly with the State to fulfill the multiple testing requirements to ensure our water meets and exceeds California’s water health and quality standards for all homes within Forest Springs. These requirements include multiple tests collected at different times in separate locations. These tests are our top priority.

The fire destroyed 42 homes in our neighborhood. Based on experience at other wildfire sites, there is concern for VOC toxins and other contaminants to seep into the water system and ground water from the destroyed homes and burn areas. In addition to the water testing, the State is requiring proof that the destroyed homes' water pipes are adequately and securely closed and are not leaching into the water distribution system.

Until we complete the entire process to the State’s satisfaction, the Do Not Drink/Do Not Boil order remains in effect for all households.

Please continue to abide by the Do Not Drink/Do Not Boil order in your household until further notice. This applies to all households in Forest Springs, even if you have performed water testing on your own home. No exceptions.

Please note that Forest Springs water company falls under State jurisdiction, not the County of Santa Cruz.
